Saijo- fruits are oblong 9 1 ½ -2 inches long x 1 inch diameter) orange and very sweet. Saijo persimmon trees are vigorous, upright growers that can grow to 20-25 feet.. It is one of the most popular astringent cultivars in Florida.

Saijo is an astringent Asian persimmon, which means:
Fruit must become very soft and jelly-like before it’s sweet.
It often hangs on the tree after leaves fall.
Some fruit will drop naturally when fully ripe, especially after frost or wind.
Many growers harvest when fully orange but still slightly firm and let them soften indoors.
